Wow!  Yvan Fecteau is quite the woodworker!  He has won countless blue ribbons and coveted recognition at various woodworking competitions throughout the United States.  We are extremely proud to display his lovely work on our web site.

Yvan's clock to the right is our Thomas Grandfather made from our plans.  Yvan took our plans further and made a beautiful case for his Thomas Grandfather Clock. This beauty is a blue ribbon winner, folks!

Yvan supplied us with these nice pictures.  To the left is a completed Thomas Grandfather Movement. Yvan then drew up his own plans for the case and completed his clock.  Most people leave the clock open for all to see the movement, but Yvan took our plans a step further and made a beautiful case for his clock.

Note the whimsical key Yvan made for his clock! This is not in our plans, but perhaps it should be!  He simply dressed up our winding ratchet shown in the clock plans!

Yvan used a commercial grandfather dial in his clock face.  Nice touch, Yvan, it looks great!

Not all of us can be the pinnacle of woodworking that Yvan certainly is, but we have to aspire for that position anyway!

To the right is our Thomas Grandfather Movement before the plate holes were cut out for viewing and decorative reasons.

Here, we see the pieces of the clock laid out.  The clock assembles in only a couple of minutes from this point!

Yvan Writes:
Steve, I just won the final in woodworking and carving for the Rio Grande Valley in Harlingen TX. I won a Blue ribbon with my working clock movement and cabinet. I was 2nd in the People's Choice, only 7 votes behind. I got a special mention too!

Thank you, Yvan.  It's master craftsmen like you that keep our wonderful woodworking hobby vibrant, fresh and alive!

Yvan says that he would be happy to answer e-mail from other woodworking and clock enthusiasts.  I told him this offer might be overwhelming, but it didn't seem to phase him!  We'll see if he tires of this!  Hopefully, he will not be swamped with e-mails and retract his gracious offer to the public.

In the meantime, Yvan's e-mail address is: va2yf@hotmail.com

Note About The Thomas Grandfather Clock Plans

At the risk of being redundant, Yvan used our clock plans to build his masterpiece that won a blue ribbon.  We sell only the movement plans and we do not offer plans for a clock case.  Our Thomas Grandfather Clock will fit in virtually any grandfather case offered in the marketplace.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that many people are using our Thomas Wall Clock plans for their grandfather and grandmother cases.  The instructions for this very small modification are included in the clock plans themselves.

Both our Thomas Wall Clock kit and Gift Clock kit can be simply modified for a grandfather or grandmother case.

It is simply a matter of cutting the Dados off so that the clock sits flat, on a platform, such as a case platform, rather than it hanging on a wall. The picture to the right that shows this nifty option so many have chosen.

The kits and plans are perfect sized for a case, as they are about 1/2 the size of the original Thomas Grandfather Clock Movement.

Friends,

If you would like to be our featured woodworker of the month, please send us electronic photos of your clock with a brief description of what you did to create it.  Your clock must be one that we sell, of course!  (But I can certainly be tempted!)  Happy woodworking!
