This is a most delightful clock kit in that it is one of the most recognizable clocks ever made. In the 14th century, if you saw a clock, it looked exactly like this one! In those days, there were no pendulum clocks (Not for another 300 years), and all clocks had only an hour hand. The minute hand was not important, because time was not all that critical in those days. Many people were still using sun-dials to tell time by!
If you were to visit a monastery in the 14th century, you would most likely see this clock hanging on a wall, as the monks used these clocks to time their praying and other activities. A most convenient clock this must have been to the monks, as the sun was not always out to tell time by.
Unlike the 14th century clocks of yesterday, this clock keeps very good time. It is made of assorted hardwoods, including maple. The gears are all individually hand-made, with great precision, indeed! This clock is weight driven (Weights are included) and runs approximately 18 hours per winding. An antique parchment dial is included with each kit. Also, for your convenience a very nice instructional, assembly DVD is included with each kit. Finished size is 15-1/2" H, 6-3/4"W, AND 5"D.
